NEW CASTLE, Del. - - Another important doubleheader sweep helped the Wilmington University get back in the mix in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference standings as the Wildcats defeated Post 6-5 in 10 innings and 10-3 in game two on Saturday afternoon at Wilson Field.

Closer Jordan Oncay gave up his first run in nearly two years in the ninth inning in the first game, but came up large in the bottom of the inning to force extras as Wilmington (18-12, 7-6 CACC) won in 10 innings on a walk-off walk. A five-run fifth inning in game two deflated Post (9-18, 2-7 CACC) who fell to Wilmington for the third time this season.

Leading 4-2 and putting the ball in the glove of its closer, Wilmington watched as a two-out bases empty situation turned into a three-run inning and were now trailing, 5-4, heading into the bottom of the ninth.

But just as quickly as Oncay gave up the lead in the top half of the inning, he refocused and got it done at the plate in the bottom half. Classmate Mike Godwin led off the bottom of the ninth with a triple, and Oncay stepped up and tied the game with a single to force extra innings.

Oncay bounced back and shut down the Eagles with a perfect top half of the tenth. With two outs and a runner on second in the bottom of the tenth, the Wildcats received back-to-back walks from Joe Harbach and Godwinto load the bases and bring Oncay back up to the plate. Oncay made it three in a row, as he walked to score the winning run from third and secure the 6-5 victory.

The Wildcats also got a sacrifice fly from Oncay for the game's first run in the bottom of the first before Bryan Miller smacked a two-out RBI double to make it 2-0 after one inning.

Wilmington added to its lead with two more runs in the fifth inning, Harbach scored on an error by the catcher and Frank Samluk hit a two-out RBI single to score Godwin, making it 4-1 after five innings.

BJ Janney batted 3-for-6 in game one while Oncay hit 3-for-4 with three RBI's and picked up the win. Godwin, Miller and Brandon Payne each added two hits apiece. The Wildcat had 14 hits in the opening game, but also left 14 runners on base.

Jamie Treml threw the first seven innings, striking out eight while allowing two runs on five hits and was in line for the win. Nick Marics pitched a perfect eighth inning before handing the ball over to Oncay for the ninth.

Post came out of the gates fast in game two, scoring two runs in the top of the first, but Wilmington responded with five runs in the first three innings to grab hold of the game and finish the sweep.

Godwin tied the game in the bottom of the first with a two-run single, scoring Janney and Harbach who singled to start the inning. With two outs in the second, Harbach doubled and scored as Godwin reached on a fielding error with the eventual game-winner.

The Wildcats tacked onto their lead with two more runs in the third, as Jonathon Rodriguez picked up an RBI by being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Still with the bases loaded, Harbach singled in the Wildcats' fifth run of the game, scoring Joe Marcian from third.

With game two starter Dave Hatt controlling the game on the mound for the Wildcats, the home team secured the game two victory with five runs in the bottom of the fifth. With the bases loaded, Godwin singled off the leg of Eagle starter John Jeanes for an infield single and forcing Jeanes out of the ball game. After it was all said and done, the Wildcats were leading 10-2.

Hatt threw the first six innings, giving up the two first inning runs on six hits, striking out seven to improve to 2-1 on the season. Rob Gore threw a scoreless seventh, Tyler Fries tossed a scoreless eighth and Tim Racek closed out the game by securing the ninth.

Harbach finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored while Godwin knocked in four RBI's while hitting 2-for-5 in game two. Janney also finished with two hits in the nightcap.

The Wildcats return to action on Tuesday when they travel to take on Kutztown in a single, nine-inning contest starting at 3:00 p.m. The Wildcats defeated the Golden Bears, 9-7, on March 28. They return home on Wednesday when they take on Mansfield University in a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m.
