Following the loss, the Chargers are now 0-4 on the young season.
Dominican struck first with two runs in the top of the first frame as shortstop Joshua Colon (Bronx, N.Y.) hit a run-scoring triple and would later score on an error for the 2-0 edge. SCSU countered in the bottom frame with five runs on three hits and two errors to push infront 5-2.
DC added two runs in the fifth on a balk and an RBI single off the bat of Billy Rotella (Stony Point, N.Y.) to cut the lead to 5-4. In the bottom half of the inning, the Owls scored two runs to re-gain a three-run lead, 7-4.
SCSU struck for seven runs on five hits and one error to increase the lead to 14-4.
The Chargers got three runs back in the seventh as Max Chidsey (Naples, Fla.) blasted a two-run homer and later Brian Parzyck (Naugatuck, Conn.) hit a run-scoring single to cut the deficit to 14-7.
Brian Sanders (La Ceiba, Honduras) hit a solo home run in the eighth and DC added five runs in the ninth on a three-run home run off the bat of Kennee Torres (Yonkers, N.Y. ) and a two-run single from Chidsey for the final 14-13 score.
Chidsey finished with four RBI, while Torres had three.
Matt Sabene (Danbury, Conn.) took the loss.
