Southern Teams Victorious in Semis; GCU & HFU to Meet in 2019 CACC Women's Volleyball Championship Final

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (November 23, 2019) -- The top-two seeds in the South were victorious on Saturday in the semifinals of the 2019 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Volleyball Championship at the Campus Center at Holy Family University in Philadelphia, Pa. No. 1 seed Georgian Court University cruised to a 3-1 win over North No. 2 Caldwell University in the day's first semis, while No. 2 Holy Family rallied to win sets 3-4-5 in a come-from-behind 3-2 triumph over North No. 1 Felician University.
Georgian Court and Holy Family, which each won the South Division Championship during the regular season with identical 16-3 conference records, will square off in Sunday's championship final at 12 p.m., at the Campus Center. Holy Family will be seeking its second-consecutive CACC crown, while GCU will be looking to raise the conference trophy for the first time since the 2013 season.
GEORGIAN 3, CALDWELL 1 / Boxscore
Aubrey Binkley had a double-double of 11 kills and 14 digs to lead GCU. Kinsy Haschke served 10-consecutive points for the Lions in the opening stages of the first set to set the tone for the afternoon. She ended with seven kills on the day. Shana Rayside posted 10 kills for the Georgian Court, Jaime Sweeney had 20 assists and Emily McCurley posted 16 digs. Elise Smith posted a match-high 15 kills for Caldwell in the setback.
HOLY FAMILY 3, FELICIAN 2 / Boxscore
The Tigers and Golden Falcons turned in an exciting back-and-forth affair. Felician took the first two sets by a combined margin of just four points (25-23, 26-24), while HFU followed with narrow wins of 25-23, 25-20 and 15-13. It marked the second time this season Holy Family pulled off a come-from-behind win over Felician, as the Tigers came from 2-1 down last month in Rutherford, N.J., to earn another hard fought 3-2 triumph.
Allyssa Hartney and Carly Covington went for 24 and 22 kills, respectively. Morgan Silks staged 56 assists. Covington went for a double-double, as she also posted 25 digs .
Kali Vodrazka logged a team-best 15 kills for Felician, and Jazlyn Pipkins followed with 11 of her own. Pipkins also posted five solo blocks and five assisted blocks.
