Caldwell’s Anderson Named CACC Women’s Basketball Player of the Year; Women’s Basketball All-Conference Teams Announced
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Caldwell College senior forward Jeanette Anderson has been tabbed the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Basketball Player of the Year as announced today along with the 2013-14 All-Conference Teams. Freshman guard Camille McPherson of the University of the Sciences was named Rookie of the Year, Philadelphia University mentor Tom Shirley garnered Coach of the Year honors and Nyack College was cited as the Team Sportsmanship Award winner. The awards were announced by CACC Commissioner Daniel Mara.
Anderson, a Lynn, Mass. native, led the CACC in rebounding (10.7) and free throws made (145) while also ranking 4th in the CACC in scoring (18.7), 6th in FG% (49.6) and 8th in blocks (29) during the regular season. She ranked 10th nationally with 14 double-doubles and 18th in rebounding. Anderson scored a career-best 34 points at Southern New Hampshire on December 21. On January 28, she grabbed a career-high 21 rebounds in the win over Nyack. Anderson is the only Caldwell player to amass over 1,700 points and 1,000 rebounds in a career. She has has been named the CACC and ECAC Player of the Week four times, as well as CACC Defensive Player of the Week twice this season.
McPherson completed the 2013-2014 regular season campaign as USciences second leading scorer (15.0 ppg) and third on the team in rebounding (6.0 rpg). The West Orange, N.J. native was honored eight times as the CACC Rookie of the Week, ranked second in the league in three-point field goal percentage (41.0) and ninth in scoring. Among CACC rookies, McPherson ranks first in scoring and three-point field goal percentage, second in field goal (46.5) and free throw percentage (74.7) and third in rebound average. She set two Devils school records with 40 points and 10 made three-pointers versus Cheyney on November 26. McPherson recorded games of 20 or more points seven times, including two with 30 or more.
Joining Anderson on the CACC All-Conference First Team are: Najah Jacobs of Philadelphia, KC Jentzen of Dominican College, Aubrey Latham of Post University of Waterbury and Brianne Traub of the University of the Sciences. The Second Team is comprised of Lillian Chukwueze of Goldey-Beacom College, Audrey Matteson of Nyack College, Trina Plummer of Felician College, Tierra Scott of Bloomfield College and Tenicia Spence of Wilmington University. The Third Team members include Tori Arnao and Monica Schacker of Philadelphia, Erin Fenningham of Holy Family, McPherson and Ariel Wilson of Bloomfield.
Alyssa James of Caldwell, Mary Ellen McCollum of Holy Family and Briana Richmond-Peters of Goldey-Beacom were named Honorable Mention.
The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference is an NCAA Division II Conference composed of 14 institutions in Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. The member institutions are Bloomfield College, Caldwell College, Chestnut Hill College, Concordia (N.Y.) College, Dominican (N.Y.) College, Felician College, Georgian Court University, Goldey-Beacom College, Holy Family University, Nyack College, Philadelphia University, Post University, University of the Sciences and Wilmington University.
