WATERBURY, Conn. (November 17, 2019) -- Francesco Perienelli's goal in the fifth minute was all the offense Post University would need, as the Eagles made it two titles in a row on Sunday following a 1-0 triumph over Georgian Court University in the 2019 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Soccer Championship Final at LaMoy Field in Waterbury, Conn. The Eagles claimed the 2019 crown after also locking up the league's championship in 2018. With the win, Post also earned the CACC's automatic bid to next week's NCAA Division II Super Regional Tournament. The announcement of the brackets will be made on Monday night at NCAA.org(.)
The Eagles held a 16-6 advantage in shots, including six on net. Sergio Diaz, who assisted on Perienelli's marker, led all players with six shots, while Phillimon Bedard-Khalid added four.
David Mollenthiel turned aside all four shots faced to earn the shuout win in goal. His counterpart, GCU keeper Jamie Hickey, was solid as well making five saves on six shots faced.
Georgian Court came out strong in the opening 15 minutes of the second half as the Lions tried to notch the equalizing goal. However, Post adjusted and was able to salt the clock away the remaining of the stanza.
