COUGARS EDGE BY THE BEARS, 1-0 IN CACC WOMEN'S SOCCER AT FOLEY FIELD

BLOOMFIELD, NJ– Bloomfield College women's soccer took on Caldwell University at Foley Field Wednesday evening and fell, 1-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate (CACC) thriller. The Cougars edged out the Bears on a bending corner kick in the 80thminute of the 2nd half.

Bloomfield (1-7-1, 0-4-1) played Caldwell to a scoreless first half as Jessica Larson (Delran, NJ) recorded five saves in the opening frame. The Cougars were relentless on the offensive attack and secured a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks in the opening period.

The home team failed to take a corner for the entire game and their crosstown rivals took full advantage in the 2ndhalf when Samantha Pereira bent a ball into the net past Larson at the 79:52 minute mark. Emily Quiroz (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) fired off a season-high four shots with three on net but the Cougars keeper, Jamie Lee-Bamford was up to the task, with five saves for the game to secure her second shutout of 2018.

Bloomfield will be back on the pitch Saturday afternoon when Jefferson comes to Foley Field for another CACC battle. The Bears and Rams are scheduled for a 1:30 pm first touch with Live Video available on the all-new CACC Network.
