MEN'S SOCCER OPEN SEASON WITH A 0-4 LOSS TO DEFENDING DIV II CHAMPS SNHU

Box Score 3565Manchester, N.H. - The Bloomfield College Bears men's soccer team opened their 2014 season with a 0-4 loss to Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) the defending NCAA Div II National Champions. The Bears fall to 0-1 on the year after playing the Penmen to a scoreless tie in the first half. SNHU moves to 1-0 after scoring 4 unanswered goals in the second period.

Sophomore goal keeper Arthur Clapot (Annecy, France) anchored the Bears defense in the opening period, turning aside 4 shots on goal to keep the Penmen off the scoreboard. SNHU held a 12-0 advantage in corner kicks in the half yet Clapot and the Bears still remained even heading off the pitch at the break.

In the second half the defending Div II champs proved to be too much for Bloomfield as SNHU Jose Seoane(A Coruna, Spain) scored back-to-back goals; the first coming at the 48:38 minute mark and the other in the 65th minute of play. There was little Clapot and the Bears could do with the top ranked Penmen out-shooting Bloomfield 16-6 for the match and adding 2 more goals to seal their win.

The Bears will look to their next challenge on Thursday, September 11th when they travel to Bridgeport, C.T. to face the Purple Knights at 7:00pm. You can watch LIVE Stats of the game by clicking HERE.
