Pomona, N.Y. (4/25/19) The Dominican College baseball team split a conference doubleheader with the Warriors of Nyack College.

Pomona, N.Y. (4/25/19) The Dominican College baseball team split a conference doubleheader with the Warriors of Nyack College. The Warriors took game one by a score of 14-7 and DC bounced back to take game two by a score of 13-5.
The Chargers are now 23-21 (16-13 CACC) on the season and the Warriors now stand at 16-28-1 (12-18 CACC) after the split.
Game One: The Chargers dropped the opening game of the doubleheader by a score of 14-7. The Warriors took a 1-0 lead in the first inning but the Chargers answered with three runs to take a 3-1 lead highlighted by Brian Sanders (La Ceiba, Honduras) stealing home and RBI hits by Justin Decker (Rotterdam, N.Y.) and Joshua Colon (Bronx, N.Y.).
Nyack took the lead back in the second inning with four runs. DC jumped back in front in the third inning after Colon homered to tie the game and Brett Karcher-Brown (Cypress, Texas) hit an RBI double for the 6-5 lead.
The Warriors regained the lead again in the fourth inning and added three runs in the sixth inning for the 10-6 lead. The Warriors continued to roll on their way to the 14-7 victory in game one.
Nicholas DeCandia (Cresskill, N.J.) added a solo home run for the Chargers in the sixth inning.
John E. Bean III earned the win in relief for the Warriors with 6.1 innings pitched and recorded six strikeouts. Alec Petterson and Herman Alvarado each recorded three hits. Petterson drove in four RBI and Alvarado added one RBI.
Matthew Johnson, David Gauthier, and Jeremiah Alonzo each recorded two hits. Austin Fischer finished with two RBI and scored four runs. Johnson and Gauthier each added two RBI while Yoni Rodriguez and Gabriel Vasquez added one RBI.
Game Two: The Chargers bounced back in game two using a 10 run fifth inning on their way to a 13-5 win.
The Chargers pounded 13 hits in the win with Jordan Bernacet (Schenectady, N.Y.) recording three of them and also drove in RBI. Joshua Colon also had three hits and recorded one RBI. Brian Sanders and Nicholas DeCandia each drove in two RBI.
Billy Rotella (Stony Point, N.Y.) added two hits and one RBI. John-Michael Broderick (Spring Lake Heights, N.J.) took the mound for the Chargers and recorded the win to improve to 4-2. Broderick pitched a strong six innings and earned four strikeouts. Cole Francher (Gilboa, N.Y.) entered the game in relief and struck out all three batters faced.
Austin Fischer had two hits and an RBI including a double in the game for the Warriors. Matthew Johnson hit a homer while Yoni Rodriguez recorded one RBI in the loss.
The Chargers will host Chestnut Hill College on Sunday, April 28th for a conference doubleheader. Game one is scheduled for 12:00 PM and game two will follow at 3:00 PM.
