WARRIORS BATTLE PAST BEARS IN THE DEN, 70-68 IN CACC NORTH DIVISION ACTION

BLOOMFIELD, NJ- The Bloomfield College women's basketball team lost a heartbreaker at home Wednesday evening to Nyack College in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action. The Warriors battled in the Den for a, 70-68 win and secured their first league win on the season (2-8, 1-3 CACC) while the Bears fell to 0-2 in CACC play and 1-9 overall.

The home team saw a balanced attack across the first two quarters as the offense posted sixteen points in each frame but Nyack used five three-pointers and a perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line to go into the half, up 36-32. Brianna Carrington (Baltimore, MD) played big of the bench for Bloomfield, going 6-of-7 from the floor for 12 points at the break.

In the third quarter, the visitors took control of the game with a 19-12 outburst but Bloomfield found their way back in the final frame and pulled ahead, 65-64 on a jumper from freshman, Lexis Rodriguez (Linden, NJ) at the 1:13 minute mark. The Warriors regained the lead on free throws with forty-eight seconds left to play and held on for the slim two-point win.

Carrington finished the day with 19 points, followed by senior classmate, Deja McKenzie (Baltimore, MD) who added a double-double, 14 points and 11 rebounds. Rodriguez ended her night with 11 points along with eleven from senior guard, Ilysia Lewis (Baltimore, MD).

The Bears head into their holiday break with over a week off in front of them before they return to action on Saturday, December 30. Bloomfield will play their final non-conference game as the Bulldogs from Bowie State enter the Den for a 12:00 pm tip off.
