Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

ROARUNNERS IN DENVER HAND BEARS THEIR THIRD-STRAIGHT LOSS, 79-73

DENVER, Colo. – The Bears men's basketball team dropped their third consecutive game after a, 79-73 loss at the hands of Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) Saturday evening at the Auraria Event Center. The non-conference setback saw Nick Davidson (Lumberton, N.J.) pour in a game-high 21 points but a second half surge from the Roadrunners proved to be too much for Bloomfield to handle at the Hilton Garden Inn Denver Cherry Creek Classic in Colorado.

The Basics
Score: Bloomfield 73, MSU Denver 79
Records: Bloomfield (2-4) | MSU Denver (4-2)
Location: Auraria Event Center/ Denver, Colo.

How It Happened
  • Davidson led the Bears offensive attack with 12 first half points on 4-for-8 shooting from the field and 4-for-4 from the line
  • Bloomfield went 0-3 in the first half from beyond the arc but shot a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe
  • The teams stayed close to each other during the period as the largest lead of six (34-28) came on a layup by Chiedozie Akawuaku (Newark, N.J.) just before the visitors took a 34-31 advantage into the break
  • Metro State came out of the locker room firing on all cylinders and scorched the Bears with a 15-4 run that started the 2nd half
  • Bloomfield clawed back to within 48-47 on a jumper by Marcus Fleming (Linden, N.J.) just over halfway in the final period but the Roadrunners refused to relinquish their lead and built a thirteen-point advantage (64-51) just five minutes later
  • Fleming and Davidson were the only Bears that finished in double figures with 21 and 10 points respectively as Bloomfield's offense struggled, shooting only 37.5 percent from the field, their second lowest output of the season
  • Safee Abdus-Sabur (Newark, N.J.) slid into the starting line up for the third time this season and produced a game-high 10 boards to go along with 9 points in in twenty-eight minutes of action

Up Next: The Bears fly home from Denver to host West Chester University of Pennsylvania on Tuesday at the Bloomfield College Gym. The home team will look to stop their current three-game skid with a 7:00 pm non-conference tip-off.
