BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – After a sour taste in their mouths from two Thanksgiving weekend setbacks, the Bloomfield men's basketball team roared to a 97-86 victory over visiting West Chester University Tuesday evening. Junior guard Rakwan Kelly (Newark, N.J.) turned in his third double-double of the season with an 18 point, 14 rebound performance. Marcus Fleming (Linden, N.J.) and Safee Abdus-Sabur (Newark, N.J.) each recorded 23 points as the Bears sent the Golden Rams home with the non-conference loss.

How It Happened

• Bloomfield opened up in control, sprinting out to a 9-3 lead but West Chester countered with a 14-4 spurt that put them in front 17-13
• The Bears battled back and forth with the Golden Rams to a 32-32 tie before using a 10-2 push to separate and eventually secure a 50-39 advantage headed into the locker room at the half
• The home team's advantage grew to twenty (76-56) halfway thru the second half with Bloomfield finding a counter for every West Chester attack
• The teams ended up each scoring 47 points in the final period but the eleven point advantage built by the Bears in the first half proved to be too much for the Golden Rams to overcome
• Chiedozie Akawuaku had a game-high 3 blocks off the bench for Bloomfield in 15 minutes of work
