NEWARK, Del. - - High percentage hitting and aggressive serving led the Wildcats of Wilmington University to a 3-0 sweep of visiting Dominican College in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) volleyball action on Saturday afternoon at the WU Athletics Complex.

Set scores for the match were 25-12, 25-15, and 25-8.

Wilmington (10-13, 6-5 CACC) wasted no time, and jumped to a quick 8-3 lead out of the gate.  Three kills from Brittany Ford midway through the first set helped the hosts run off five straight to take a 19-7 advantage.  The Chargers (0-20, 0-11 CACC) fought off two set points before a service error gave the Wildcats the first set, 25-12.

It was all the home team early in the second set as well as they ran off the first 10 points of the set, all off the serving of Miranda Shaw.  Dominican couldn't cut the deficit to closer than eight points (11-3), as Wilmington pulled away for the 25-15 victory.

Multiple runs of four points or more allowed the Wildcats to easily secure the sweep, as they cruised to the 25-8 victory in the third and final set.  Three aces from Genevieve Hughes were a spark midway through the set, and Wilmington hit an astounding .591 to make short work of the Chargers.

For the match, Wilmington hit .346 while holding Dominican to just a .013 hitting percentage.  The Wildcats totaled a whopping 15 service aces, and committed just two receiving errors on the afternoon.

Leading the way for the hosts was freshman Mandy Behiels, who recorded 10 kills, hitting a .350 clip.  Sophomore Jill Braunsberg added eight kills, 13 assists, 11 digs, and three aces, while freshman Jahnya Boschulte hit .364 and notched five kills of her own.  Junior Miranda Shaw added 19 assists, six aces, three kills, and eight digs in a solid all-around performance while sophomore Addalyn Flores paced the defense with 16 digs.

Wilmington returns to the court on Tuesday afternoon when they travel to take on Georgian Court University in a pivotal CACC Southern Division matchup.  First serve is set for 7 pm in Lakewood.
