BEARS DRIVE BY NYACK WITH, 88-76 DECISION IN THE BLOOMFIELD GYM

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. –The Bloomfield College men's basketball team took their third straight victory in an, 88-76 win over the visiting Warriors of Nyack College Tuesday evening. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) battle in the Bloomfield Gym featured Rakwan Kelly (Newark, N.J.) churning out his fourth double-double of the season with team-highs in points (22) and boards (13). The Bears used a collective effort from their starters who all finished in double-figures to take the fight out the Warriors down the stretch.

How It Happened
  • The teams were evenly matched to start the game with Nyack using a three-pointer followed by a layup to seize a 23-17 advantage in the opening half of play. The Bears countered with an 8-2 spurt to tie the match at 25 with six minutes remaining until the break
  • Ahmid Williams (Monroe, N.J.) pick-pocketed a Warrior guard with seconds on the clock and buried a shot from beyond the arc as the halftime buzzer sounded to send his team to the locker room up, 42-38
  • In the second half, Dontay Julius (Linden, N.J.) gave Bloomfield some momentum, hitting back-to-back buckets including a three-ball to put the home team up 58-52
  • Safee Abdus-Sabur (Newark, N.J.) knocked down a three-pointer with 2:45 remain on the clock the Bears enjoyed an 80-71 margin. Abdus-Sabur recorded fifteen points and three rebounds during the win as Bloomfield went basket-for-basket the rest of the way to seal the game
  • Marcus Fleming (Linden, N.J.) finished the game with 10 points and 6 assists while Julius netted 14 points and 4 boards. Nick Davidson (Lumberton, N.J.) rounded out the stellar starters with 18 total points and 7 rebounds
 
Up Next: Bloomfield takes the trip up the Garden State Parkway to face CACC North Division rival, Dominican College. The Bears go for their fourth consecutive when the action with the Chargers begins at 3:00 PM on Saturday.
