BOWIE, M.D. – The Bloomfield College women's basketball team hit the road to the DMV area to take on the Bulldogs of Bowie State University and suffered a 61-51 setback Saturday afternoon in non-conference play. Junior guard,
Zhane Robinson (Newark, N.J.) shot 50 percent from the field (5-for-10) for the second time this season but it was not enough as her and senior guard,
Tianna Smith (Spring Valley, N.Y.) were the only Bears that scored in double-figures (14, 12).

How It Happened
- The Bulldogs jumped on the Bears out of the gate, registering a 21-10 first quarter advantage
- Bowie State saw Kara Colston go 4-for-6 from the field for 8 points in the first two quarters to give the home team a 10-point lead (36-26) at the break
- The Bears used a 17-8 third quarter to jump right back into the game
- Robinson posted 8 points and 5 boards in the final two quarters for Bloomfield
- Bobbi Floyd (Las Vegas, N.V.) chipped in four points in the second half to help the visitors cause and also pulled down two rebounds
- Bowie State responded with a 17-8 fourth quarter to put the contest out of reach and secure their second victory of the season
- Deja McKenzie (Baltimore, M.D.) the DMV area native scored 6 points for the Bears, as did Jahniece Jaffe (Egg Harbor, N.J.) who found her first points of the 2016-17 campaign
Up Next: Bloomfield will return to New Jersey for their home opener on Tuesday, November 22 at 5:30 pm. The Bears will also open up Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play when the Eagles of Post fly into town for the battle in the Bloomfield Gym.
