LADY CHARGERS BOUNCE BACK WITH SWEEP OVER GOLDEY-BEACOM COLLEGE
Orangeburg, N.Y. (3/30/19) The Dominican College softball team swept the Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College by a score of 7-3 in game one and 7-0 in game two.
Orangeburg, N.Y. (3/30/19) The Dominican College softball team swept the Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College by a score of 7-3 in game one and 7-0 in game two. After both wins, the Lady Chargers improve to 8-11 (5-1 CACC). The Lightning fall to 6-14 (4-5 CACC) on the season.
Game One: The Lady Chargers took game one over the Lightning by a score of 7-3. DC pounded 12 hits in the game. Madeline Uschock (Greensburg, Pa.) earned the win to improve to 6-5 on the season. Uschock pitched a full seven innings and recorded six strikeouts for the Lady Chargers.
DC rallied in the second inning to take a 3-0 lead. Rajene Bowe (Ellendale, Del.) got the scoring started for DC with an RBI double. Emily Luzetsky (Bel Air, Md.) followed with a two-RBI single.
The Lightning answered in the fourth innings to tie the game at 3-3. Braydee Whitman drove in the first run for GBC on a fielder's choice. Ali Henriquez followed with a two-run double which tied the game.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Lady Chargers regained a three-run lead. Rajene Bowe tripled to drive in two runs and then scored on an error to extend out to a 6-3 lead over GBC.
Alyssa Seiss (Queens, N.Y.) added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth inning with a solo homer to extend the lead to 7-3. Uschock shut the Lightning down the rest of the way to secure the game one victory.
Bowe went 2 for 4 in the game with three RBIs and scored two runs. Luzetsky added two RBIs and went 4 for 4. Samantha Fitzgerald (Fishkill, N.Y.) and Madison Newman (Phelan, Calif.) each had two hits in the win. Shailei Kraft (Waverly, N.Y.) finished with a hit and two runs scored.
Game Two: The Lady Chargers completed the sweep with a 7-0 win in game two. DC scored all seven runs in the second inning on their way to a win. Shelby Smith (Valley Center, Calif.) started for DC and pitched a complete seven shutout innings to earn the win. Smith only surrendered one hit to the Lightning in the game.
GeorgieRose Super (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) put DC on the board with an RBI on a fielder's choice. Kristin Miscia (Basking Ridge, N.J.) earned an RBI walk to extend DC's lead to 2-0. Rajene Bowe drove in two RBIs with a single to give the Lady Chargers a 4-0. Emily Luzetsky followed with an RBI single and Samantha Fitzgerald recorded a sacrifice bunt to make the score 6-0.
Luzetsky later scored on a throwing error for the seventh and final run of the inning for DC. That was all for the scoring in the game as the Lady Chargers completed the sweep with a 7-0 victory in game two.
The Lady Chargers will be back in action tomorrow Sunday, March 31st when they host Holy Family University for a CACC doubleheader. Game one is scheduled for 1:00 PM and game two is scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM.
