Firebirds Defeat Wildcats to Coast to Fifth Straight Victory
Wilmington, Del.- The University of the District of Columbia's women's tennis team goes undefeated on the season in victory over Wilmington. No.1 singles and doubles player Simoné Pärn also moved to 5-0 in both singles and doubles play.
Pärn teamed up with Sofia Bellucco to defeat Laura Gil and Sabrina Blasi-Smith 7-5 at No. 1. Joanna Skrzypczynska and Izabella Bilecova bounced back from a tough double's loss against ECC foe STAC, three days ago, to defeat wilmington's Andrea Ribalta and Mallory Nolte 6-0 at No.2.
Bilecova set the tone for the Firebirds with a straight sweep 6-0,6-0 at No. 4. Belluco followed up with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 3, but Skrzypczynska fell 6-1, 6-0 at No.2 Pärn would then secure the victory for the Firebirds with a win at No. 1 win to bring the overall score to 6-1.
UDC (5-0, 3-0 ECC) will host USciences on Wednesday October 2ndat 11:00am.
