BEARS WIN FOURTH CONSECUTIVE AFTER, 68-52 GALLOP OVER THE CHARGERS

ORANGEBURG, NY – The Bears women's basketball team extended their longest winning streak of the season to four after a 68-52 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over Dominican College. The Wednesday evening contest on Coach Baxter Court pushed Bloomfield even on the year at 9-9 and 9-2 in league games while the Chargers slipped to 6-12 overall and 5-5 in conference matches after the setback.

The reigning CACC and Metropolitan Writer's Association Player of the Week, Zhane Robinson (Newark, NJ) registered 28 points and 7 rebounds, shooting an impressive, 12-for-18 from the floor. Kiamsha Bynes (Piscataway, NJ) provided support for her classmate with 15 points and 4 assists. Fellow guard, Alexia' Tucker (Halifax, Va) dished out 7 helpers and went 2-of-3 for 5 points in the Bears win.

Dominican secured a slight 20-18 advantage by the end of the first quarter as the two North Division teams exchanged baskets thru-out the period. Bloomfield gained an edge by halftime with the offensive production being cut in half for both teams. The visitors went into intermission up, 29-28 after out-rebounding the Chargers, 19-14 including an impressive 8-1 in offensive boards. Robinson was nearly unstoppable with a game-high 16 points over the first two frames on 7-of-11 shooting from the field.

Bynes aided Robinson in the 3rd quarter to help Bloomfield distance themselves from the home team as the senior poured in 9 of her totals points and the Bears outscored Dominican 21-9. The home team battled in the final quarter but the deficit was too large to overcome and Bloomfield posted their 7th win over the last 8 games.

Bloomfield will return home Saturday, January 27th looking to defend The Den from the Tigers of Holy Family University at 1:00 pm. Head Coach Vanessa Watson will look to take the Bears above .500 for the first time during her collegiate coaching season debut.
