LADY CHARGERS DROP BOTH GAMES ON DAY FIVE AT THE SPRING GAMES

Clermont, Fla. (3/13/19) The Dominican College softball team dropped both games in a doubleheader to Winona State University and Auburn Montgomery. The Lady Chargers overall record drops to 2-7.
DC lost game one by a score of 5-3 to Winona State and was shutout in game two by a score of 5-0 to Auburn Montgomery.
Game One: The Lady Chargers fell behind early by a score of 3-0 when Winona State opened the game with three runs. The Warriors added two more runs in the fourth inning to extend their lead to 5-0.
In the sixth inning, Taylor Gilligan (Medford, N.J.) put the Lady Chargers on the board when she roped a three-run homer to cut the deficit to 5-3. The Lady Chargers comeback fell short as the game ended 5-3.
Jordyn Kleman recorded 14 strikeouts and pitched a complete seven innings to improve her record to 5-0 on the season.
Game Two: In game two, the Lady Chargers faced the Warhawks of Auburn University at Montgomery. The Warhawks improved to 25-5 on the season overall after the 5-0 victory.
The Warhawks jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. The Warhawks added two runs in the fourth inning and followed it up with one run in the fifth inning.
The Warhawks recorded eight hits in the game. Jaycie Walker, Jasmine Thompson, and Olivia Aycock each had multi-hit games in the win. Walker, Thompson, Aycock, Morgan Duschell, and Gracie Harris each recorded an RBI to lead the Warhawks to victory.
Madison Newman (Phelan, Calif.) recorded the only hit in the game for the Lady Chargers.
Jade Ingram improved her record to 4-0 on the season in five innings pitched with four strikeouts. Natalie Johnson entered the game in relief for the Warhawks and recorded two strikeouts in two innings pitched.
The Lady Chargers will look to bounce back on Friday, March 15th when they finish the week at THE Spring Games with a doubleheader against Bentley University and Indiana (Pa.). Game one will begin at 9:00 AM and game two will follow at 1:30 PM.
