BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - Juinior
Tianna Smith (Spring Valley, N.Y.) scored her 1,000th career point early in the opening quarter as the Bears rolled to a 78-42 victory over the Clippers of Concordia College Wednesday evening at the Bloomfield Gym. Smith scored a game-high 17 points and led her team to 18-5 after the win, including a perfect 14-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action. The Clippers fell to 4-17 on the season and 2-12 in league play following the setback.
Smith, the Bears leading scorer on the year, shot 6-for-11 from the field including 2-for-5 from beyond the arc and 3-for-3 from the free throw line. The junior also snatched five steals, three rebounds and three assists while CACC Co-Rookie of the Week,
Deja McKenzie (Baltimore, M.D.) chipped in 10 points and went 5-for-6 from the floor. Â Senior
Iman Williams also netted 10 points for Bloomfield on a perfect night as she went 4-for-4 from the field and 2-for-2 from the line. Classmates
Ariel Wilson (Chesapeake, Va.) and
Chyna Golden (Neptune, N.J.) each recorded eight points and three assists for the home squad while freshman Brianna Carrington (Baltimore, M.D.) snagged a career-high eight rebounds in twenty-one minutes of action.

Jessica Rosalbo scored 16 points to lead the Clippers offensive attack but also committed 11 turnovers on the evening.

The opening quarter started with the Bears up 4-0 as junior
Morgan Taylor (Paterson, N.J.) hit a jumper and Smith went to the line and sank two free throws, the second of which gave her 1,000 points in her career. Concordia used a 7-4 run to close their deficit but back-to-back buckets from McKenzie held the visitors in check and Bloomfield enjoyed a 12-9 advantage after the first quarter of action.

The second quarter began with a 12-3 outburst from the home team capped by a Smith basket from beyond the arc for a 24-12 edge halfway through the period. Bloomfield closed out the period with a 17-1 run and took a commanding 41-13 lead into the break. The Bears nationally ranked defense held the Clippers to one field goal in the entire second quarter and forced twenty turnovers in the first half

On top 52-15 to start the third quarter, Bloomfield watched Concordia answer with a nine straight points to climb back to 52-24 with 3:40 on the clock. Taylor drove down the lane for a bucket that ended the scoring for the Bears in the quarter as the visitors went into the fourth trailing 58-30.

Bloomfield began the final period with an 8-2 spurt that the Clippers responded to with a 7-0 run of their own. The Bears put the game away with a 12-3 run to remain undefeated in CACC play with just five guys remaining in the regular season.

Bloomfield outshot Concordia, 48.4 percent (30-62) to 30.0 percent (12-40), including 33.3 percent (4-12) to 25.0 percent (3-12) from long distance. The Bears also shot a higher percentage from the line (73.7% – 57.7%) but the Clippers sank more free throws (15) than the home team (14). Bloomfield dominated the glass, 40-28 and feasted in the paint 40-10. The Bears forced 29 turnovers for the third time this season and converted that into 32 points off of Concordia mistakes.

The Bears will be celebrating 'Take A Kid to the Game' day and also their Lions, Tigers and Bears Oh My Toy Drive.
