ROBINSON'S 8TH DOUBLE-DOUBLE PUTS BEARS ON TOP OF THE CACC NORTH DIVISION

CALDWELL, N.J. – The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) saw their top two women's basketball teams in the North Division battle it out Thursday evening at the Newman Center and the Bears pulled out a, 57-49 upset victory over regionally ranked, Caldwell University. Senior guard Tianna Smith (Spring Valley, N.Y.) who eclipsed 1,500 career points on Tuesday, chipped in 17 points to the Bloomfield effort. • The road team secured a slim 16-15 advantage at the end of the frame as Smith netted seven of Bloomfield's points
  • The Cougars regained the lead with the first bucket of the 2nd quarter and extended for their largest advantage of the game, 25-20 with two minutes to play. By halftime, the Bears found themselves down by two (28-26) as the home team led for 57.4 percent of the first two quarters
  • Both regionally ranked squads had trouble finding baskets early in the third quarter but the Cougars managed to edge out in front, 39-32 before the Bears answered with a 8-4 run fueled by five points from Robinson to close out the period
  • Bloomfield clawed ahead in the 4th quarter for their largest advantage of the battle, going up 49-45 with 5:38 on the clock. Up 52-47, the Bears were able to whittle off over a minute and a half from the clock with consecutive offensive rebounds extending the visitors possession
  • Senior guard Morgan Taylor (Paterson, N.J) made her mark at the free throw line going 8-of-11 including three down the stretch to seal the win and give the Bears sole possession of first place in the CACC North Division
