MEN'S BASKETBALL SUFFER 99-94 SETBACK AGAINST CONCORDIA

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Bloomfield College men's basketball team suffered a 99-94 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) loss Thursday night on the road to the Clippers of Concordia College. The setback dropped the Bears to 7-10 on the season and 6-4 in CACC play while the Clippers improved to 10-9 for the year and 7-3 in conference action. Freshman forward, Nick Davidson (Lumberton, N.J.) notched a team-high 19 points on 50.0 percent shooting from the field (6-12) and junior Claude Blue (Brooklyn, N.Y.) registered his second double-double of the year, netting 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Concordia jumped out to an early 14-4 lead as junior, Peter Aguilar (Bronx, N.Y.) led the charge pouring in half of the Clippers points.  Bloomfield answered with an 11-2 run that closed the gap to 16-15 with 14:07 left in the first half.  The Bears then captured their first lead shortly thereafter when Davidson drilled a three to put the visitors up 22-21. The teams exchanged leads four times before Concordia ultimately regained the advantage and went into the half up 49-45, largely due to Aguilar's 19-point explosion in the opening frame.

Concordia's offense came out strong in the second half shooting 53.3% from the field. The Clippers used an 11-0 run in the period to go up 70-53 with 13:18 left. Bloomfield's offense was equally as potent in the second half, shooting 53.1% in the frame, and the Bears continued to fight to hang around. Senior Marvin Williams (Jersey City, N.J.) and Junior Clarence White (Bronx, N.Y.) combined for 21 points in the second half, leading to a late surge for Bloomfield that ultimately came up short against their CACC North Division foe.

Williams and White finished the game with 18 points each for the Bears. Aguilar finished with a game-high 29 points on 11-of-13 shooting while also connecting on 4-for-5 from beyond the arc. Tshyrad Oates (Union City, N.J.) also came up big with 15 points on the night, 11 of them in the second half, and 9 rebounds for the game.

Bloomfield's next game will be Saturday, January 31 when they travel to Holy Family University to take on the Tigers at 3:00 pm.
