#4 DC FALLS TO #1 CHESTNUT HILL IN THE SEMIFINALS OF THE CACC CHAMPIONSHIPS
Lakewood, N.J. (5/2/19) The Dominican College men’s lacrosse team fell in the semifinals of the 2019 CACC Championships to the Griffins of Chestnut Hill College by a score of 19-11.
Lakewood, N.J. (5/2/19) The Dominican College men's lacrosse team fell in the semifinals of the 2019 CACC Championships to the Griffins of Chestnut Hill College by a score of 19-11. The game was played at the GCU T&F Complex in Lakewood, N.J.
The Griffins got off to a fast start in the first quarter with five straight goals to open the game. Dominican ended the run with a goal late in the quarter to get on the board. Each team added two goals each before the end of the quarter.
The Griffins led 7-3 at the start of the second quarter and each team scored twice in the quarter. The Griffins held a 9-5 lead going into halftime.
Each team traded goals to begin the third quarter. The Griffins used a four-goal run to extend their lead over DC to 14-6. The Chargers ended the third quarter with back to back goals to cut the deficit to 14-8.
The Chargers started the fourth quarter off strong with two more goals to cut the deficit to 14-10. The Griffins extended their lead to 15-10 and the Chargers answered back with another goal to make the score 15-11.
The Griffins sealed the victory with four straight goals to extend their lead to 19-11 which would eventually be the final score. With the win, the Griffins move onto the CACC finals.
For the Chargers, Luke Martini (Abington, Mass.) and Marcos Peirce (Middleburg, Va.) each finished the game with two goals and one assist. Nicholas D'Alessandro (Levittown, N.Y.) also added two goals and one assist. Ryan Fischer (Monroe, N.Y.) added two goals and led the team in shots with 14.
Lorcan Teahan (Sparkill, N.Y.) finished the game with one goal. Shaun Palmer (Massapequa, N.Y.) added one goal and one assist while Andrew Leonardo (Lyndhurst, N.J.) added one goal and two assists.
Patrick Gifford (Galloway, N.J.) and John Rooney (Bellmore, N.Y.) split the time in goal. Rooney recorded six saves while Gifford made five saves to combine for a total number of 11 saves for the game.
The Chargers officially finish the 2019 season with a record of 3-12 (2-4 CACC).
