BALANCED ATTACK GETS BEARS PAST GOLDEN FALCONS ON THE ROAD, 52-46 IN CACC SHOWDOWN

RUTHERFORD, NJ – The Bears women's basketball team hopped in the vans and travelled up the road to face the Felician University Golden Falcons Wednesday evening and came away with a, 52-46 victory. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) showdown at Job Gymnasium improved the Bloomfield overall record to 16-11 and more importantly, 15-3 in league play. The Golden Falcons celebrated Senior Night and honored their three women's basketball seniors before falling to 9-16 overall and 7-11 in conference action after the setback.

CACC Player of the Week, Zhane Robinson (Newark, NJ) and junior forward, Bobbi Floyd both registered double-doubles for the evening. Robinson notched her 8th double-double of the year with an even, 12 points and 12 rebounds while Floyd picked up her 5th on a modest 11 point, 11 rebound night. Senior guard, Aanise Barnes (Newark, NJ) in her final visit to Job Gymnasium snagged a career and game-high, 13 boards to go along with 8 points.

The visitor's struck the first blow in a low scoring opening quarter as Ilysia Lewis (Baltimore, MD) converted a layup in the paint. The CACC North Division teams combined for just 20 points in the 1st frame with Bloomfield on top, 14-6. The pace quickened in the second quarter and the Bears extended their lead to thirteen (26-13) with 4:03 remaining until the break. Felician soared back with seven unanswered points and went into the locker rooms down 26-20 as the visitors failed to score again in the quarter.

The Golden Falcons clawed even closer after the 3rd quarter, outscoring Bloomfield 18-15 and set the stage for a push in the final frame. The Bears reeled off the first six points of the 4th and put the home team on their heels. Felician couldn't find the offensive firepower to catch up to their North Division counterparts and the Bears came away with their 15th conference win.

Bloomfield is now set to play their final regular season game on Saturday against Caldwell University at 1:00 pm. The Cougars roll out the red carpet as they celebrate the women's basketball program seniors prior to tip-off at the Newman Center.
