BEARS WIN ON THE ROAD, 55-52 AND MOVE INTO TIE FOR 1ST PLACE IN CACC NORTH

BRONXVILLE, NY – The Meyer Athletic Center hosted a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's basketball game Saturday afternoon and the Bears came out on top, 55-52 over Concordia College.

Despite their lowest point total in a win this season, Bloomfield moved to 5-8 overall and into a tie for first place in the league's North Division at 5-1. The Clippers dropped to 1-5 in CACC contests and 1-14 overall for the year.

The reigning conference Player of the Week, Zhane Robinson (Newark, NJ) carved out her second double-double in three games with 33 points and 17 rebounds to lead the visitors. Seniors, Dayanni Cochran (Las Vegas, NV) and Aanise Barnes (Newark, NJ) each contributed six points as the Bears offense shot only 30.1 percent from the floor (22-73) for the game.

Bloomfield fell behind in the first quarter, 15-11 and Concordia maintained their advantage with a slim 28-27 lead at the halftime intermission. Robinson secured her double-double by the break as the senior netted 17 points and 10 boards.

Bloomfield jumped ahead in the third quarter, 43-41 and headed into the final frame with all the momentum after a 10-0 run. The visitors never trailed in the fourth quarter and held on down the stretch to claim a share of 1st place in the CACC North.

Winners of three straight for the first time this season, the Bears now face their toughest opponent at home on Wednesday evening. The Devils of USciences come to 'The Den' for a 5:30 pm showdown in Bloomfield. USciences are tied for first place in the CACC South Division and hold the best overall record in the league at 13-2. The Bears look for sweet redemption after being bounced from the CACC playoffs last year by the Devils and suffering their worst post-season loss since 2012.
