Box Score California, Pa. – (10/7/2012) – Playing on back-to-back days, the Chestnut Hill College men's soccer team broke from their Central Atlantic Collegiate College (CACC) schedule for a Sunday contest at California University (PA). The Vulcans took the lead during the 15th-minute before a landslide second half allowed them to wipe out the Griffins on a 4-0 final. Sophomore forward Patrick Steger (La Plata, Md.) led the Griffin effort with two shots.

California University (PA) (7-5) held a narrow shot advantage, 8-5, in the opening half and they were the only team to find goal in the period, doing so on a Chestnut Hill College (5-7-1) own goal at 14:10, 1-0. The Vulcans managed to keep their lead to halftime and after the break they separated from the Griffins with three goals in the final 20 minutes. Senior midfielder Chris Moehler (Centreville, Va.) scored at 70:25, 2-0. His classmate, senior forward Ryan Slaby (Pittsburgh, Pa.) extended the Vulcan lead to 3-0 at 72:41, and then with less than three minutes remaining (87:07), junior midfielder Christopher Karns (Mars, Pa.) to put the game out of reach, 4-0.

Moehler and senior forward Paul Silvestrone (Vaughn, Ontario) recorded four shots apiece to headline the Vulcan offense. In goal, sophomore Mitch Mack (Erie, Pa.) made three saves in the shutout.

Steger's offensive endeavors were supported by six other Griffins who recorded a shot. Unfortunately, no one was successful. Senior goalkeeper Michael Goldstein (Pennsauken, N.J.) took his first loss of the season (2-1) while making seven saves.

The men's soccer team returns to CACC action on Wednesday, October 10, when they visit local rival, Philadelphia University, for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
