USCIENCES COMES OUT ON TOP IN THE DEN, 58-50 OVER THE BEARS

BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bears welcomed the Devils from USciences into The Den on Wednesday evening for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) showdown. The Bears came out on the wrong side of a 58-50 decision in front of their home crowd.

The teams played to a 10-10 stalemate in the first quarter. USciences clamed a four-point advantage at the halftime break (22-18) powered by 14 points from Alex Thomas (Hockessin, Del). The Bloomfield offense struggled in the second quarter and would need adjustments to be more productive across the next two periods.

The Devils had other plans and opened up the 3rd quarter with an 8-2 spurt. The visitors expanded their advantage to 40-33 by the end of the quarter and put the Bears in a hole heading into the final frame. Bloomfield closed the gap and were tied up with the Devils at 47-47 with 4:43 to go in the game but couldn't find the momentum to knock off the CACC South Division visitors.

Bloomfield was held to just 31.1 percent shooting from the field for the game and Aanise Barnes (Newark, NJ) led the team with 14 points. Zhane Robinson (Newark, NJ) and Kiamsha Bynes (Piscataway, NJ) contributed a combined 22 points for the game.

The Bears will head down the NJ Turnpike for a battle against Goldey-Beacom College on Saturday. The CACC contest is slated for a 1:00 pm start in Wilmington Del.
