Eagles Continue Hot Play With Comeback Win Against Wilmington

Box Score

Women's Soccer improved to 3-1-1 in their last five games when they came back in dramatic fashion today.

Katherine Garcia (Birdgeport, CT) began the scoring early in the first half, scoring her first goal as an Eagle. Garcia found space and got loose on the outside before sending a long strike over the head of the goalie, off the post, and into the back of the net.

Wilmington would answer shortly after and the 1-1 score carried into halftime.

Wilmington stole momentum right out of halftime with a quick strike from Rebecca Dolhansky

With the score still knotted at 2-1 and under five minutes left in regulation, the eagles came back to life. Gorgi Van Lienen (Palmerston North, New Zealand) stepped up to take a free kick just outside the box and rocketed one upper left to tie the game at 2-2. For Van Lienen, her third goal of the season would prove to be the igniter to the comeback.

Less than two minutes later, Sabrina Adamo (Hicksville, NY) found a pass from Katherine Garcia and put home a beautiful shot to complete the comeback and put the Eagles up for good.

The Eagles are now 3-3-1 in conference play and are making their way up the standings in the CACC. Today's result lands Post 7th out of 13 teams. Wilmington is 5th in the conference with a 5-3 record in CACC play.

The Eagles will take on Dominican College Wednesday, October 10th at 3 p.m. at LaMoy Field.
