Furious Second Half Comeback Falls Short For Bridgeport Men's Basketball In 81-72 Home Loss To Post University
UB Rallies From 23 Points Down But Falls Short In The End
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team staged a furious second half comeback turning a 23-point deficit (63-40) with 12:19 to play into a one-point, 66-65, lead with 3:28 to go after a three-point play by senior Omari Howard (Bronx, N.Y.), but in the end, the visiting Post University Eagles would close the contest with a 16-6 outburst to record an 81-72 win. Post is now 6-1 on the season, and Bridgeport falls to 2-5.
Senior Darian David (Bronx, N.Y.) led three UB players in double figures with 16 points. He was joined in double-digit scoring by Howard with 12 points and junior Ivan Simic (Belgrade, Serbia) netted 10 points and added a team-leading eight rebounds.
Junior guard Jahmill Jenkins (Elizabeth, N.J.) had eight assists for the Purple Knights on Wednesday night.
Post's Devin Willis led all scores on the night with 23 points, as he went five-for-five from behind the three-point line.
The Bridgeport men's basketball team is back in action on Saturday afternoon, December 1, as the Purple Knights will look to snap a four-game losing streak at LIU Post in the team's 2012-13 East Coast Conference opener. Game time on Long Island is set for 3:00 p.m.
