Garden City, N.Y. – The men's basketball team closed out the 2013 calendar year with their final contest of the Holiday Classic against the Deacons of Bloomfield College. Despite three players registering double-digit scoring, the Panthers were unable to climb out of a first half hole, ultimately falling by a score of 76-61. With the loss, Adelphi slips to 3-7, 1-4 NE-10 while Bloomfield moves to 5-6, 3-1 CACC.

Ryan DeNicola recorded his second consecutive double-double, topping his numbers from yesterday's outing with 11 boards and 16 points on 7-9 shooting from the field. Teammate Boris Fodouop impressed as well with a career high 22 points after sinking 11-13 attempts from the floor with 14 points coming in the second. Duane Morgan chipped in with 10 points while Anthony Libroia was limited to six points but dished out eight assists.

The Deacons came out firing on all cylinders from the get-go, quickly putting Adelphi into a five point hole in the early stages of the game. The visitors capitalized on their 25 rebounds and 10 second chance opportunities while forcing 11 Panther turnovers in the first.

DeNicola kept his team in the game as he accounted for six of the Panther's first nine points. Down by 10 at the 9:19 mark, Morgan connected on his two free throw attempts while Edward Sullivan drilled a three pointer on the ensuing possession to make it a five point game.

At the 4:40 mark, a triple by Marvin Williams sparked a crippling 15-2 run. Libroia's two free throws in the final minute were the only points Adelphi was able to register as they headed into halftime down 43-26.

Despite a more statistically balanced second, and outscoring the Deacons by two in the final half, Adelphi saw the 16 point gap slowly balloon to as much as 26 at one point. Bloomfield's Williams scored 13 of his 19 points during the final 20 minutes while Fodouop impressed with a 14-point half on an efficient 7-8 shooting from the floor. The Panthers did a better job of controlling the ball, turning it over just three times while forcing seven Bloomfield turnovers.

Over the final seven minutes, the Brown and Gold were able to chip away at the differential, but it proved to be too little too late as a John Ferguson jumper on the final possession would be the last bucket of the contest.
