FAIRFIELD, NJ - The
Bears women's soccer team opened their 2022 season with a, 4-1 setback against visiting, Roberts Wesleyan College Saturday afternoon. The non-conference match took place in Fairfield, NJ with Bloomfield (0-1-0) hosting their first home opener in over ten years.
Junior goalkeeper,
Mia Phillip (Bridgewater, NJ) made 8 saves and gave up four goals, all in the first half as the Rams took control of the contest. Senior captain,
Savannah Smith (North Arlington, NJ) provided a spark for the home team in the 2nd half when she scored her first goal of the year in the 74th minute of play.
Bloomfield will recoup and return to the pitch on Monday, September 5th with another non-conference test, this time against the University of New Haven. The match with the Chargers is set for a 1:00 pm first touch in West Haven, Conn.
