BEARS CLIP CONCORDIA, 76-47 IN CACC ROAD BATTLE

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Bloomfield College Bears women's basketball team defeated the Concordia Clippers by a score of 76-47 on the road Thursday evening. Sophomore guard, Tianna Smith (Nanuet, N.Y.) lead all scorers with 16 points to go along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Junior guard Ariel Wilson (Chesapeake, Va.) contributed to the victory with a double-double, scoring 13 points while grabbing 10 rebounds. The Clippers were led by guard, Jessica Rosalbo (Staten Island, N.Y.) who netted 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting.  Concordia forward Selbe Lo (Dakar, Senegal, Africa) added a season-high performance on the boards, grabbing 15 rebounds.

The Bears improve to 8-2 in Central Athletic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play, 10-7 overall. The Clippers fall to 3-7 in CACC action and 3-14 overall.
Bloomfield shot 43.6% from the field (24-55) while holding Concordia to 35.3% (18-51). It was a strong defensive showing by the Bears as they forced 28 turnovers on the evening. The visitors were able to score 25 points off the Clippers' turnovers.  Senior center Tierra Scott (Bear, Del.), Wilson, and Smith all contributed with 3 steals apiece, as Bloomfield had 12 as a team.

Concordia opened up the game with a quick 6-3 spurt but that would be the only time Bloomfield trailed all game. The Bears went on a 9-0 run fueled by Scott, Wilson and Smith to give the CACC North Division leading team a 12-6 lead with 12:23 left in the first half. Rosalbo did her best to keep her team in the game in the opening period, dropping 11 points on 5-7 shooting. At the end of the first half Bloomfield held a 34-24 advantage.

The Bears seized control in the second half with a 16-6 run and jumped out to a 50-30 lead with 13:08 left in the game. Morgan Taylor (Paterson, N.J.) and Lauren Deverin (Sewaren, N.J.) each added 7 points in the second stanza as Bloomfield flexed their advantage to 70-39 before settling in for the 76-47 victory.

Scott finished the evening with 12 points on 3-of-3 shooting from the floor and rookie De'Andra Humphries (Boston, Mass.) came in off the bench to add 10 points. Taylor had 4 assists to go along with her 10 points for the game and Deverin ended the night with 9 points.

A team effort led to a successful offensive second half for the Bears as they shot 46.2% (12-26) from the field while getting to the charity stripe 23 times, converting 16 of them.  Bloomfield would do most of their work around the basket as they outscored Concordia 34-22 in the paint.

The Bears next test will come on Saturday, January 31st when they continue their CACC road trip, travelling south to take on Holy Family University. Game time is set 1:00 pm. Stay up-to-date with the latest news, including game previews and recaps, from the Bloomfield College athletic department by liking us on Facebook and following us on Twitter or Instagram @GO_BCBears.
