Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/22/19) The Dominican College men's soccer team fell in double overtime to the Eagles of Post University by a score of 3-2.
The Eagles improve to 8-2-3 (5-1-2 CACC) after the win and the Chargers fall to 5-9 (3-5 CACC) on the season.
Tyler Doll (St. Louis, Mo.) started in net for the Chargers and recorded seven saves. David Mollenthial earned the win by stopping six saves for the Eagles including a save in overtime.
The Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half with goals Alvaro Sanchez and Matteo Guagliardo. The Eagles took five shots in the first half and entered halftime with a two-goal advantage.
The Chargers Maximino Casares Martinez (Ciudad De Panama, Panama) scored both DC goals in the second half to tie the game at 2-2. The tying goal was scored in the 80th minute off of a penalty kick which sent the game to overtime.
Both teams were scoreless in the first overtime period. Six minutes into the second OT, the Eagles clinched the victory. Sergio Diaz scored the game-winner for the Eagles to secure the win.
The Chargers will be back in action on Saturday, October 26th when they travel to Chestnut Hill College for a conference game at 3:00 PM.
