GARDEN CITY, NY – The Bears traveled on the road after finals week and suffered an, 84-57 setback in non-conference play against Adelphi University. The Panthers improved their record to 6-7 with the regional win while Bloomfield dropped to 2-8 on the season after Monday evening's loss.
The Bears had a good start out the gate and traded baskets with the Panthers in the opening quarter. A last second layup gave Adelphi a 17-14 advantage and capped a 9-3 surge to close out the frame. That momentum continued into the second quarter for the hosts with a 13-2 run signaling Bloomfield's offense starting to sputter. The home team used a 51.0 shooting percentage across the first two quarters to open up a 50-30 lead at the break.
The Bears were unable to mount a comprehensive offensive threat across the last two quarters and the team managed 27 total points to close out the contest.
Deja McKenzie (Baltimore, MD) poured in her second-highest point total of the year with 21 points and added a team-high nine rebounds.
Kiamsha Bynes (Piscataway, NJ) joined McKenzie in double figures with 12 points and Alexia Tucker (Halifax, Va) chipped in 8 points while going 2-of-3 from long range.
Bloomfield will look to get back on track after Christmas when they welcome Felician University for a New Year's Eve conference battle. The Golden Falcons are set to challenge the Bears at 'The Den' with a 12:00 pm tip-off on December 31
