Bardonia, N.Y. (9/15/19) The Dominican College women's soccer team earned their first win of the season with a 5-0 shutout over Salem Int' at Albertus Magnus High School. The Lady Chargers improve to 1-3 overall on the season and Salem falls to 0-5 overall.
The Lady Chargers took 42 shots as a team and 25 were recorded on goal. Danai Chimedza (Dacula, Ga.) took a team-high ten shots in the game and recorded seven shots on goal. Danielle Gillespie (New City, N.Y.) took five shots and recorded two on goal.
Victoria Bonner (Kings Park, N.Y.) added four shots and three on goal. Taylor Calero (New City, N.Y.) added three shots and two on goal.
Chimedza put DC on top at 7:45 of the first half and the score stayed 1-0 for the remainder of the first half.
The Lady Chargers blew the game open in the second half with four goals. Megan Geary (Campbell Hall, N.Y.) scored twice, Abby Montera (New City, N.Y.) added a goal, and Chimezda added her second goal of the game.
Lauren Drake (Clifton Park, N.Y.) finished the game with three assists. Bonner and Sarah Wood (Uniondale, N.Y.) each added one assist.
The Lady Chargers will look to win their second game of the season on Wednesday, September 18th when they travel to St. Thomas Aquinas College at 3:00 PM.
