WATURBURY, CONN– The Bears men's basketball team crossed state lines to square off with Post University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) north division match up Wednesday night and came away with a, 90-82 victory.
Dontay Julius (Linden, NJ) had a strong night at The Drubner Center as he and his teammates improved to 16-2 in league play and secured the overall #1 seed in the upcoming conference tournament. The setback left the Eagles at 9-18 overall and gave them a 6-12 mark in CACC play.
The Bears (18-9, 16-2 CACC) spotted the Eagles the first 7 points of the game and watched the home team expand their advantage to 21-9 before calling a timeout. The top team in the CACC settled in and clawing back to, 36-36 on a
Rich Chapman (Newark, NJ) three-pointer with 6:14 left on the 1
sthalf clock. Post clung to a slim, 46-45 lead at the break as Julius kept the visitors close with 13 first half points. Bloomfield shot an efficient, 50.0 percent from the field (16-of-32) in the opening half and went a perfect, 9-for-9 from the free throw line to remain within striking distance.

Kavione Green (Amityville, NY) layup (49-48) at the 18:52 minute mark. The teams waged a see-saw battle across the next ten minutes that resulted in a, 71-71 tie with less than nine minutes to play. Bloomfield's experience began to shine thru as they went ahead and never looked back, answering the call each time Post made a bucket and kept The Drubner crowd at bay to finish out the game.
The Bears, late in the season are clicking on all cylinders, with the CACC Player of the Week,
Keith Washington (Philadelphia, PA) taking on the facilitator role Wednesday, dishing out 8 assists and snagging 8 rebounds, all on the defensive glass. The league's Defensive Player of the Week, Green toted the scoring load, dropping a game-high, 30 points on 11-of-16 shots from the floor. Junior forward,
Matt Lajeunesse (Union, NJ) went for a double-double and netted 16 points to go along with 11 rebounds. Chapman and Julius finished the night with 15 and 13 points respectively.
Bloomfield, currently on a 9-game win streak, will play their final regular-season game on Saturday when Caldwell University comes to town. The battle for Bloomfield Ave is set for a 3:00 pm tip with both playoff-bound teams looking to enter the CACC Tournament on a winning note.
