OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – Freshman
Emira Sela (Staten Island, N.Y.) made six saves, but the Bloomfield College women's soccer team fell to non-conference opponent NYIT, 2-0, Tuesday afternoon on the road.
With the loss, Bloomfield drops to 3-5 overall and 1-4 in conference play for the 2015 season, while NYIT improved to 4-3-1 on the year.
The first half went by with both teams scoreless heading into the locker room. The home team enjoyed a 7-2 advantage in shots but came away with no goals to show for their labor.
The second half provided all the offense NYIT needed beginning when Taylor Casey staked claim on a 1-0 lead in the 84
th minute with a header off a corner kick.
The home squad added another goal two minutes later and sealed their victory on the afternoon.
NYIT held an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal and a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Rianna McNew (Miami, Fla.),
Sammy Bucknell (Acushnet, Ma.) and
Silvia Jaske (Helsinki, Finland) each took one shot for Bloomfield while
Karla Calderon managed two shots for the game.
Bloomfield will return to the field Saturday, Oct. 3 as they travel to the 'City of Brotherly Love' to face the Rams of Philadelphia University for a 12 p.m. scheduled contest.
