OVERTIME GOAL PROPELS CLIPPERS IN FRONT OF BEARS IN WOMEN'S SOCCER

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Freshman Lisa Parello (Staten Island, N.J.) leveled the game 1-1 in the 51st minute, but Concordia College score just thirty-seven seconds into overtime to put them up 2-1 and defeat the Bloomfield College women's soccer team in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action Wednesday afternoon at Holtdorf Soccer Field.

Bloomfield dropped its fourth straight match and fell to 3-7-0 overall and 1-6-0 in conference play. The Clippers snapped a 61-game losing streak and improved to 1-7-0 overall and 1-6-0 in CACC action with their first win of 2015.

The Clippers drew first blood as Catherine Gray (Land O'Lakes, Fla.) sent a long pass to Maddi Paulson (Kalispell, Mont.), who broke away and drilled the ball into the back of the net in the 34th minute of play. The home team took the 1-0 lead into the halftime break.

Bloomfield netted the equalizer, however, in the second half at 50:42 when Alicia Galiano (Washington TWP, N.J.) delivered a pass up the middle that Parello sent high left that lofted over the head of Concordia goalkeeper Samantha Street (Granite Falls, Mont.) and into the far corner of the net.

Although both teams played evenly thru regulation Concordia wasted no time in overtime challenging the Bears defense off a turnover, Dayna Darcy (Plainedge, N.Y.) blasted a long shot from the left corner past Bloomfield goalkeeper Diana Vincentini (Lacey TWP, N.J.) that proved to be the deciding factor.

Both teams tied in shots (9) and corner kicks (2) on the afternoon while Vincentini recorded two saves, Street picked up one save.

Up next, the Bears return home to Foley Field Saturday morning to host the Griffins of Chestnut Hill. The 11 am showdown on the pitch will be Bloomfield's third straight CACC battle in a row.
