BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bears women's basketball team dropped their second consecutive game in a, 59-41 non-conference setback Monday evening against the University of New Haven. The regional battle at the Den left Bloomfield still searching for their first victory of the season over a non-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent.
The visiting Chargers improved their record to 11-13 overall while the home team fell to 13-11 with the regular season drawing closer to a conclusion.
Both teams struggled offensively from the field for the game as New Haven converted 38.2 percent of their shots to the Bears 30.6 percent. Bloomfield made just one 3-pointer during the regional contest as they trailed for most of the match.
Bloomfield saw only two players reach double-figures with junior classmates,
Deja McKenzie (Baltimore, MD) and
Ilysia Lewis (Baltimore, MD) each shooting 4-of-10 from the floor for 12 points apiece. Lewis also snagged a team-high, seven rebounds.
The Bears will look for that elusive first non-conference victory when they play their final regional opponent outside of the CACC on Wednesday, February 14
th. The Valentine's Day showdown on the road will feature Bloomfield taking on the Lions of Lincoln University (Pa.) at 6:00 pm. The Bears will return home on Saturday to host Senior Day against Georgian Court University.
