Jefferson Reclaims CACC WXC Supremacy with Win at 2023 CACC Championshpi

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (October 22, 2023) -- With six runners finishing within the top-14 runners of the race, the Thomas Jefferson University women's cross country team once again took its place at the top of the mountain in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference as the Rams claimed the 2023 championship with a score of 39 points at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia, Pa. It marked the eighth time in the last nine races since 2014 that Jefferson was crowned as the league champ on the women's side.

Ana Eshraghi led the effort as she won the individual title and captured CACC Runner-of-the-Year honors by placing first in an impressive time of 19:58.71. Sarah Brennan was next for Jefferson in fifth place (20:58.63) and Audrey Pham was ninth at 21:20.53. Lydia Shaw (11th, 21:25.75) and Olivia Monahon (13th, 21:38.18) were the other two Rams to factor into the winning team score. Annalee Capuano finished right behind in 14th place and was the sixth Jefferson runner to finish in the top 15 which garnered all of them All-CACC honors.

The championship was one of many highlights on day for Jefferson, as former program standout Sarah Simonetti was officially inducted into the CACC Hall of Fame in a ceremony following both the men's and women's races. Simonetti, the CACC Championship Course Record Holder at Belmont Plateau was a two-time CACC Runner of the Year and advanced to the NCAA National Finals twice as well.

Chestnut Hill College was second with 90 points and had three runners place among the top eight in the standings, including Sydney Watts (3rd, 20:56.31), Aubrey Elias (7th, 21:03.46) and Gabby Hassler (8th, 21:17.88).

Holy Family University was third with 99 points and the team's performance was highlighted by Emma NcMamee who was runner-up in second with a time of 20:36.55.

Runners placing in the top-15 earned All-CACC honors.
