NEW HAVEN, Conn. (July 31, 2019) -- Chestnut Hill College will serve as the host institution for the 2019 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's & Women's Cross Country Championships, as announced on Wednesday by Commissioner Dan Mara. CHC will host the championship event on Sunday, Oct. 27, at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia.

The Griffins will be led by first-year head coach Daryl Nelson in 2019, as he was introduced last week by the school as the program's new leader.

The men's 8k championship race will begin at 9 a.m., followed by the women's 5k race at 10 a.m. The post-championship awards ceremony will be held immediately following the conclusion of the two races. The CACC Championship at Belmont Plateau will also serve as a preview for the 2019 NCAA Division II East Region Championships, which will be held on Saturday, Nov. 9, and hosted by Jefferson.

Wilmington University and Jefferson enter the 2019 CACC Championships as the defending champions in the men's and women's races, respectively. WilmU won the CACC men's title for the third time in the last four seasons in 2018, while Jefferson locked up its fifth-consecutive women's conference crown last fall.

On the individual side, Post University standout Kendall Fitzgerald will be seeking her fourth-straight CACC individual championship in 2019, as she would capture the individual title in each of her four seasons of collegiate competition. She will have to hold off several challengers on the women's side, as the CACC boasts several top returning runners in 2019. It's guaranteed a new men's individual champion will be crowned in October as Wilmington's Mark Corrigan has exhausted his eligibility following an impressive two-year stretch of winning back-to-back men's races.

Belmont Plateau will be serving as the host course for the CACC Championship for the second-straight year.
