6 In A Row: Jefferson Claims Another CACC Women's Cross Country Championship with Impressive Showing

RESULTS

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (October 27, 2019) -- Jefferson continued its amazing run of championships on Sunday, as the Rams earned 42 points to claim the program's sixth-straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Cross Country Championship at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia, Pa. Jefferson narrowly edged out Felician University, as the Golden Falcons placed second with 48 points.

Five Rams placed among the top 14 finishers in the standings, including Kalisa Safer (3rd, 20:16), Kyleigh Percy (6th, 21:01), Erin Young (8th, 21:08), Meghan Horan (21:22) and Brittany Gable (21:34).  The top-15 runners in the event earned All-CACC accolades.

Georgian Court University's Kaitlyn Bragen finished first overall with a mark of 19:48, as she was also named the 2019 CACC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Year. Felician's Ashley Linares was the top freshman finisher at 20:33, and was named the CACC Rookie of the Year.

Felician's high finish was sparked by Shayla Morales' second-place showing in a time of 20:14. Jillian O'Brien was the Golden Falcons other top-10 finish, as she came in 10th with a time of 21:20.

Georgian Court, aided by Bragen's first-place finish and Alina Chant's fifth-place showing (20:38), rounded out the top three with a score of 69 points.
