PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (November 2, 2014) -- By going 1-2 in the individual standings, Curran Kneebone and Eric Lacy helped propel the Philadelphia University men's cross country team Sunday to the 2014 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship at Belmont Plateau, hosted by Philadelphia U.

The championship winning performance for the Rams' men's squad came a little more than an hour after the school's women's team took home the CACC crown in its event. Philadelphia U., who finished with a low score of 45 points, won its first conference title since the 2009 campaign.

Wilmington University followed in second with 66 points, while Goldey-Beacom College rounded out the top three in third place with 86 points. The remaining teams competing in the field included Bloomfield College (4th, 134 points), Chestnut Hill College (5th, 171 points), Post University (6th, 179 points), Georgian Court University (7th, 184 points), Felician College (8th, 213 points), University of the Sciences (9th, 219 points), Nyack College (10th, 222 points), Concordia College (11th, 272 points), and Caldwell University (12th, 295 points).

Kneebone placed first in the 8k race with a time of 27:17, and picked up a trio of awards for his amazing performance despite battling gusting winds throughout the entire afternoon. In addition to winning the individual championship, he was named the 2014 CACC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Year, while also being placed on the All-CACC Team. He became the first Ram to win the men's individual title since 2006 when Josh Vander Veen won at Carousel Park with a time of 27:52.

Lacy, who led the CACC with the most men's cross country runner-of-the-week awards this season, turned in a strong performance by placing second in a time of 27:27.

Cody Borders and Tim Malloy were the other two Rams to pick up All-CACC accolades during the race by finishing among the top-15 competitors. Borders was 12th in 28:34, while Malloy was right behind in 13th with a mark of 28:40. Zachary Garman narrowly missed earning All-CACC honors by placing 17th (29:09), but was the fifth Ram to help count towards the championship winning score.

The other major individual award handed out during the men's race was the 2014 CACC Rookie of the Year award, which was given to Goldey-Beacom's Chandler Brooks, who placed eighth in a time of 28:17. His finish was the best among all rookies in the men's race, and also allowed him to be placed on the All-CACC Team.

Several other awards were handed out after the men's race, including USciences receiving the 2014 CACC Men's Cross Country Rob Roman Memorial Award for outstanding demonstration of team sportsmanship shown throughout the year. Felician sophomore Mike Secreti, who earned All-CACC honors by placing third in the race with a time of 27:39, also won the Top XV Award for having the highest cumulative grade point average of any men's runner at the championship with a mark of 3.969.
