PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (October 21, 2012) – The Wilmington University men's cross country team placed five runners among the top eight finishers overall as it claimed the 2012 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship on Sunday morning at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia University claimed the CACC Women's Cross Country crown after placing four athletes among the top-nine runners in a field of 85 and finishing with a total score of 44 - 37 points ahead of second-place finisher Georgian Court University.

The conference title marked the fifth consecutive for the Rams on the women's side, while Wilmington's was its first CACC Men's Cross Country Championship.

Felician senior Rob Albano (Pompton Plains, N.J.) was named the CACC Men's Runner of the Year after becoming the first repeat individual conference champion in CACC history as he finished the course in a time of 26:23 - 35 seconds ahead of the runner-up, Felician's Taylor Trumbetti (Montvale, N.J.).

Wilmington sophomore Althea Davidson (New Castle, Del.) is the CACC Women's Runner of the Year following a first-place showing and a time of 19:00 - 1:04 ahead of the rest of the field.

Jesus Amezquita (Stafford, Va.), also of Wilmington, was the top finisher among freshmen on the men's side and was honored as the CACC Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Year after posting an eighth-place finish and a time of 28:31.

Philadelphia freshman Alyssa Litty (Marlton, N.J.) garnered the CACC Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Year honor after registering a time of 20:04, which was good enough for a second-place overall showing.

Wilmington head coach Keith Jones was named as the CACC Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year, while Nyack's Latia Deylii was selected as the CACC Women's Coach of the Year.

Nyack was the recipient of the Anne Jackson Memorial Women's Cross Country Team Sportsmanship Award.  The men's side saw both Wilmington and the University of the Sciences named as co-honorees for the Team Sportsmanship honor.

Joining Davidson and Litty on the All-CACC Women's Team was Brianna Ligotski (USciences), Jeanette Halliburton (Wilmington), Taylor Falvey (Philadelphia), Emilie Barton (Philadelphia), Carolina Cassin (Dominican), Isalin Howard (Georgian Court), Chelsea Attaway (Philadelphia), Justine Berger (Georgian Court), Jennifer Boyle (Holy Family), Pamela Code (Nyack), Tori Trador (Nyack), Cynthia Cuiule (Georgian Court) and Jordan Lyons (USciences).

Albano and Amezquita highlighted the All-CACC Men's Cross Country Team that also included Taylor Trumbetto (Felician), Mike O'Brian (Wilmington), Richie Mitten (Wilmington), Bill Steele (Wilmington), Tim Malloy (Philadelphia), Matt Mossman (Wilmington), David Richardson (Holy Family), Tim Kicha (Felician), Joe Eagan (Felician), Stuart Guild (Nyack), Eric Lacy (Philadelphia), James McShane (Philadelphia) and Steve Omari (Felician).
