Four CACC Harriers Named to Philadelphia Inquirer Women’s Cross Country Academic All-Area Team

PHILADELPHIA – After sitting out the 2012 season due to an injury, Bryn Mawr junior Claudia Keep rebounded to a first-team All-Regional selection at NCAA Mideast Regionals by finishing eighth with a time of 21:41. That, along with a long laundry list of accolades both on and off the course, earned her Performer of the Year honors as part of the Philly-SIDA Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Women’s Cross Country team. Keep is one of eight student-athletes selected to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Women’s Cross Country Team. The team is voted on by the sports information offices of the 28 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

Keep, who was the first Bryn Mawr runner to compete on the national level two years ago, earned first-team All-Centennial Conference honors by finishing seventh at the Centennial Conference Championships with a time of 23:15. This season, she won four events including the Owls’ own invitational, Dickinson’s Long and Short Invitational, the Seven Sisters Championship, and Haverford’s Open. She became just the second Bryn Mawr runner to win the Seven Sisters Championship.

A two-time selection to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll, she has posted the school’s fastest times in the three-mile run (17:35); the 5K (18:23) and the 6K (21:41). She was also a USTFCCCA All-Academic selection in 2012.

Keep  is joined on the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Women’s Cross Country team by Chestnut Hill’s Allison Eberly; Philadelphia University’s Taylor Falvey and Alyssa Litty; Brianna Ligotski from the University of the Sciences; Kelly Riffenburgh from Haverford; Josey Rupert from Eastern and Emma Slattery from Saint Joseph’s.
