NEW HAVEN, Conn. (November 20, 2019) -- A pair of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Volleyball standouts were recently named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District I First Team, as announced by the national organization of sports information directors. The duo included Emily McCurley of Georgian Court University and Lindsay Przywara of Goldey-Beacom College.

McCurley, a business administration major from Monument, Colorado, owns a cumulative grade-point average of 3.88. In her second and final campaign with the Lions, McCurley has played a vital role in leading first-place Georgian Court to a 26-6 record thus far in 2019. The senior libero and defensive specialist ranks seventh in the entire Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference with 469 total digs, while placing ninth with 4.38 digs-per-set. The CACC Defensive Player of the Week, for the week ending Sept. 23, has tallied 10 or more digs in 28 of the Lions 36 contests, including a season-best 31, Sept. 26 at Wilmington.

The 2019 Academic All-District® Volleyball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Emily, along with her fellow First-team Academic All-District™ honorees, advances to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first, second, and third team All-America honorees will be selected in December.

It is the 19th time a Goldey-Beacom student-athlete has been picked CoSIDA Academic All-District and Przywara becomes only the sixth in the College's history to be so honored more than once.  She now is up for national honors, for which the College has recorded six CoSIDA Academic All-Americas.

A solid player at the net and a top-notch student, Przywara has elevated her game each season at outside hitter and is one of the driving forces behind the program.  One of the most well-liked student-athletes on campus, Przywara also was picked the 2016 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Year and 2018 third team all-league.

One of the highlights this season for the Lightning took place October 10, when before a raucous home crowd Przywara became the second player in team history to reach 1,000 career kills.  She now stands at 1,007 for her career.

Przywara also is first in the CACC with 4.35 kills per set, first with 4.9 points per set, seventh with 0.45 aces per set, 15th with 261 kills, 18th with 291.5 points, 19th with 2.82 digs per set and 21st with a .210 hitting percentage.

Przywara is the third GBC student-athlete this academic year feted by CoSIDA as juniors Line Kristoffersen (Bergen, Norway) and Rose Benjamin (North East, MD) also were tabbed Academic All-District for Women's Soccer.  Goldey-Beacom in 2018-19 closed 45th out of 308 Division II schools with an 88 percent ranking in the NCAA Academic Success Rate and placed 50 on the CACC Academic Honor Roll.
