NEW HAVEN, Conn. (November 7, 2018) -- Holy Family University standout Chase Wassel on Wednesday was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Student-Athlete of the Month for October 2018, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. Wassel earned the honor for demonstrating success on the volleyball court, in the classroom and in giving back to her local community.

The senior outside hitter logged double-figure kills in each of Holy Family's 12 contests during the month, as the Tigers went a perfect 12-0. She topped 20 kills in three matches, including a month-high 23 in a 3-1 win over Jefferson back on Oct. 20. Wassel was named the CACC Volleyball Player of the Week multiple times during the month, as HFU found its way into the NCAA Division II East Region Rankings later in October.

In the classroom, the communications major owns a cumulative grade point average of 3.38. Her high GPA was a reason in the Tigers claiming a 2017-18 AVCA Team Academic Award for having a team-wide GPA of 3.65 during the past year.

In the community, Wassel is a member of the school's student-athlete advisory committee, which has taken part in various campus and local community outreach initiatives. She also serves on the Holy Family Senior Legacy Committee.

Wassel is the second monthly honoree for the 2018-19 academic year, joining Post University's Kendall Fitzgerald, who took home the honor during the month of September.

Wassel and her teammates will compete in the 2018 CACC Volleyball Championship Semifinals this Saturday at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, N.J. The Tigers will face Caldwell University at 1 p.m., with a trip to the conference final on the line.
