LAKEWOOD, N.J. (November 11, 2018) -- Chase Wassel hit at a .315 clip and produced 23 kills to power the Holy Family University women's volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Post University on Sunday in the 2018 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Volleyball Championship Final at the Wellness Center in Lakewood, N.J. The Tigers captured their 29th win of the season and claimed the conference's title, while also locking up the automatic bid to next weekend's NCAA Division II East Region Tournament.

Holy Family hit .315 as a team on Sunday and played amazing all weekend long. HFU's spectacular play was capped by a brilliant set-four performance, as the Tigers posted a 25-8 victory to clinch the title. The 17-point win came after an 11-point victory in set three (25-14).

Wassel had a double-double on the day, as she also had 13 digs. Carly Covington posted 15 kills and 18 digs, while Gianna Pessognelli and Jaime Bonner went for 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Morgan Silks posted 50 assists to help pace the offensive attack, while Jillian Boyle logged a team-high 21 digs. Holy Family, the South's No. 1 seed, improved to 29-5 on the year and will await word of its first-round opponent in the NCAA Tournament, as the announcement will be made on Monday on ncaa.org(.)

Holy Family defeated Post for the second time in eight days, as the Tigers capped the regular season with a 3-1 triumph in Waterbury back on Nov. 3, to clinch the No. 1 overall seed for the conference tournament.

Wassel was named the tournament's most valuable player following the match, as she also produced 14 kills in Saturday's semifinal win over Caldwell University. She was joined on the CACC All-Tournament Team by teammates Pesognelli and Silks.

Post was led on Sunday by Madison Hunziker, as she totaled 17 kills and was named to the all-tournament team. Her 17-kill performance came a day after Hunziker logged 24 in a semifinal triumph over Georgian Court. Hunziker and Brianna Root were named as Post's selections to the all-tournament squad.

Both Hunziker and Root sparked a late surge by Post in the second set to knot the match at 1-1. Behind their strong play, Post scored 15 of the set's final 22 points to turn a 16-10 deficit into a 25-23 win.

Holy Family got the match started in fine fashion with a 25-20 win to go up 1-0. The Tigers scored four of the final five points to seal the set-one victory, including getting back-to-back kills from Covington.
