USciences' Karla Miletic Named to 2018-19 Google Cloud/CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (June 20, 2019) – University of the Sciences women's tennis junior Karla Miletic has become the first two-time Academic All-American, as voted by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America), in USciences history.

She was one of 15 Division II student-athletes from the over 300 NCAA Division II institutions voted on to the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division II Women's At-Large First Team on Thursday.

The Academic All-America® Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. The At-Large Team, specifically, considers student-athletes that participate in fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, water polo, bowling, crew and field hockey.

A total of six University of the Sciences student-athletes have earned the distinction of Academic All-America® since 2002.

A Second Team selection in 2018, Miletic joins Emily Roth (Women's Volleyball, 2005) as the only First Team Academic All-Americans in USciences history.

The Zadar, Croatia native also recently repeated as the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Women's Tennis Performer of the year.

She currently sports a perfect 4.0 GPA through six semesters as a Physics major, and she was voted All-CACC (Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference) for the third year in a row in the fall.

Miletic advanced to the Quarterfinals of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional doubles draw for the second year in a row with partner Abbygail Gamarnik, while also making it to the Round of 16 in the singles bracket for a third consecutive year.

Playing at first flight throughout the year, she was second on USciences with 12 doubles victories and eight singles wins, including going 11-4 with Gamarnik.
