GOLDEY-BEACOM'S STEPHANIE FUENTES ROBINSON REPEATS AS CACC WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE YEAR

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (October 19, 2012) – Goldey-Beacom College sophomore Stephanie Puentes Robinson (Bogota, Colombia) has been named as the 2012 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, it was announced at the CACC's annual Awards Banquet held at Chestnut Hill College on Friday evening.

Concordia College freshman Luisa Candido (Boca Raton, Fla.) was honored as the CACC Rookie of the Year, while Concordia head coach Neil Tarangioli was recognized as the CACC Women's Tennis Coach of the Year.

Puentes Robinson led the Lightning to an 11-2 record, including a 7-1 mark in the CACC, and the No. 2 seed for the CACC Championship. Playing as the Lightning's No. 1 singles player, Robinson has posted a 14-2 record and went undefeated in CACC matches with a 7-0 record.

In addition, she reached the semifinals of the 'A' Singles draw at the ITA Division II East Regional Championships in September.

As a doubles player, Puentes Robinson has earned an 11-4 record this season, including a 6-0 mark at number one doubles with Sancho.

Puentes Robinson, who was honored as the ITA East Region Rookie of the Year last season, has posted a 26-5 career singles record and an 18-11 career mark in doubles matches. With 26 career singles victories, she ranks fifth in school history entering the CACC Championship.

Candido played as the No. 1/No. 2 seed for the Clippers in singles and doubles for the majority of the season and posted a record of 7-1 in singles and 6-1 in doubles action during her rookie campaign.  She rebounded after dropping her first collegiate singles by ripping of seven straight wins to close out the regular season.

Tarangioli was named the CACC Coach of the Year after guiding the Clippers to a perfect 8-0 conference mark and the program's fourth straight regular season title.
