Post University to Serve as Host for CACC Men's & Women's Soccer Championships for the Second Year in a Row

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (August 2, 2019) -- Post University will serve as the host institution for the 2019 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's and Women's Soccer Championship Semifinals and Finals on Nov. 15 & 17 in Waterbury, Conn., as announced on Friday by Commissioner Dan Mara. It marks the second-consecutive year and fourth time in the last six seasons Post will play host to the soccer championships in Waterbury.

The men's championship tournament will begin with first round games on Monday, Nov. 11, while the women's competition begins a day later on the 12th with its first round affairs. All first-round matches will be held at the sites of the highest seeds. The semifinals will be held on Friday, Nov. 15, at both LaMoy Field and Municipal Stadium. The championship finals will be conducted on Sunday, Nov. 17, at LaMoy Field with the men's final being held first, followed by the women's final. Game times for the semifinals will be announced at a later date. LaMoy Field is situated on the Post campus and will host the women's semifinals on Friday, while Municipal Stadium is in downtown Waterbury, and will play host to the men's semifinals.

Both Eagle soccer teams have been among some of the finest programs in the CACC over the last several years. The men's program has reached five of the last eight CACC finals, including winning the conference championship last season in a thriller over Wilmington University. The women's program advanced to the 2014 conference final. The Post men are led by head coach Ted Haley, while the women's side will be led by second-year head coach Stephanie Demake.

Caldwell enters the 2019 campaign as the defending conference champion in women's soccer, as the Cougars have won three CACC titles since 2013 (2013, 2016, 2018), and have appeared in the league final four times in the last six years.

The men's and women's champions will earn the league's automatic bids to the NCAA Division II Men's and Women's East Region Tournaments, which will be held the following weekend at sites to be determined. The conference's championship weekend will kick off on Thursday, Nov. 14, with the 2019 Soccer Championship Banquet which will recognize the competing teams and the all-conference honorees/major award winners from the recently completed regular season.
